BCM 200 & BCM 400 Notes

 

Changing IP address using the BCM serial port

1. Connect the serial port of a PC to the serial port of the BCM using a null-modem cable.  Set parameters to 9600 baud, 8-N-1.

2. User Name = ee_admin, Domain = <press enter>, Password = PlsChgMe!

3. Main Menu – press 2

4. Start Menu – press q

5. Quick Configuration – press a to change LAN1, press i to change LAN2, press r to change the Next Hop Router

6. When you are finished making changes, restart the BCM to make any changes take effect.

 

Using the BCM web interface

1. Install the latest version of Java.  Go to www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp to download.

2. Start your Internet browser.  Type the IP address of the BCM in the address bar and press the Enter key.

3. Click the box that reads “Configure”

4. Default login for the BCM: UserID = ee_admin, Password = PlsChgMe!

 

Note:  It is STRONGLY recommended that the default password be changed!

 

Change time and date

1. Go to System – Identification

2. Set date, time and time zone in their respective fields

 

Note: Daylight time is a read-only field.  It is just to indicate whether daylight time is in effect or not.  Patches are available for the BCMs to update the new daylight savings schedule that went into effect in March 2007.

 

Check keycodes installed in the BCM

1. Go to System – Licensing.  The system ID will be displayed

2. Click the “Applied Keycodes” tab.  Installed keycodes will be displayed.

 

Install keycodes in the BCM

1. Go to System – Licensing.  The system ID will be displayed

2. Click “Configuration” on the menu bar – click “Add a keycode”

 

Check system ID through a digital telephone

1. At any system phone dial Feature**SYSID

 

Change IP addresses using the web interface

1. Go to Resources – LAN – LAN1 or LAN2

2. Make changes in the box “IPAddress

3. Make changes in the box “SubNet Mask”

4. Reboot the BCM to save changes

 

Change the Next Hop Route (Network Gateway) using the web interface

1. Go to Services – Net Link Mgr

2. Click on “Permanent WAN Connection Setting”

3. Change the gateway address in the box “Next hop on primary link” 

Note: To determine the “Next hop” setting, go to any PC connected to the same network as the BCM, click Start – Run, type cmd in the address bar.  At the C: prompt type ipconfig and then press Enter.  The line that reads “Default gateway” is the IP address to use as the “Next hop” setting. 

Logoff the BCM web interface

1. Click “BCM <IP address>”

2. Click “Logoff” on the menu bar – click “Logoff”

3. Close your web browser when the logoff has completed

 

Reboot or Shutdown the BCM

1. Click “System”

2. Click “Logoff” on the menu bar

3. Click “Reboot” or “Shutdown”

 

Login to the Call Pilot using the web interface

1. Start your Internet browser.  Type the IP address of the BCM in the address bar and press the Enter key.

2. Click the box that reads “Call Pilot”

3. Enter the password for the admin mailbox.  If the password is at default (0000) you will be prompted to change the password.
